How to type pinyin 打拼音

Go to MDBG Chinese Dictionary  and click the menu icon (三) on the top left corner of the page. Choose "Type pinyin" from the options. Type 1, 2, 3, or 4 after each word. For example: Fen1lan2 to get Fēnlán.

How to type characters with Google Translate


First: How to get the type bar ready in Google Translate

  1. Go to: Google Translate
  2. Choose the first language as Chinese/kiina (on the left side), and the second language as English/englanti (on the right side).
  3. There will be a small symbol: 拼. Click the arrow on the right side of the symbol   to select the input method. Choose “Chinese (Simplified, China) - Pinyin” and you will get a “type bar” on the bottom right hand corner of your page.
  4. When you have the “type bar”, you are ready to type characters. You can make the bar appear and disappear by clicking the symbol.

Typing characters in Google Translate 打汉字

  1. Type the whole sentence without capital letter, space or tone marks . For example, type: woshifenlanren and choose from the suggested options 1. 我是芬兰人.
  2. You will see the pinyin of this sentence under Ä and the symbol : Wǒ shì fēnlán rén. If you cannot see the pinyin, just click the Ä to show and hide the pinyin.
  3. To check you result, you can either check the pinyin (the best option) or check the translation on the right side of the page.
Some tips: Type “v” to get “ü”. When you have “r” (like in “nar”), type “er” instead of “r”. For example: “naer” to get 哪儿.
