There will be one exam period in December and one in May. Personal exams may be requested for January-April to match your personal study schedule. It is a good idea to get well stated with studying the lecture content before requesting or booking an exam date. The same student can take the exam twice.

The exam will take place in the EXAM studio on Aalto campus. You need to reserve a time: EXAM link. The examination time is 1 hour 55 minutes. If you are not familiar with EXAM, read the EXAM process instructions and student guide. Watch the included the video.

The purpose of the examination is to encourage students to attend the lectures, to watch the lecture recordings, and to study the handouts. The idea is to do this in a relatively low-stress way. While some of the questions may be tricky, we try to set them in such a way that those familiar with the material can answer most of them without deep analysis. The deeper part of the course is in the design projects.

All questions are multiple choice. Your task is to select all the correct options. There may be many - or none at all.  Every correctly selected or correctly unselected item gives a point. Always select also the "ALWAYS SELECT THIS" option, or will you lose points! (It is a workaround for a technical limitation of the software.) The total points are scaled to produce 25% of the course grade. The questions are randomized for each student.

In rare cases, there have been technical problems at the EXAM studio that may prevent students from completing the examination. In that case, please leave the studio and report the problem to both the EXAM support at exam@aalto.fi and to the course email alias cs-e4300@aalto.fi. It is advisable to not book for the last available days and leave them as a backup.
