Spring Studio 2023 - Advanced Building Design Studio (provided by Emergent Design Methodologies)

Please read this schedule carefully – it contains very important information about preparing for the workshop in Tokyo.


Mon 9.1. trip registration deadline for Aalto students and teachers – no travel cancellations possible after that

Latest on that day, students travelling to Japan need to submit the following information and documents to antti.ahlava@aalto.fi, to be eventually forwarded to Shibaura Institute of Technology in order to receive a travel scholarship from SIT:

  • Filled Application Form (File name: 01-PBL-Form1-UnivName-ApplicantName, MS Excel; prescribed form 1)
  • Filled Pledge (File name: 02-PBL-Pledge-UnivName-ApplicantName, pdf scanned with signature; prescribed form 2)
  • An official Course Transcript of the applicant's academic record in the last one academic year (in English, file name: 04-PBL-Transcript-UnivName-ApplicantName, pdf)
  • Copy of applicants passport (photo and signature should be on the page; file name: 05-PBL-Passport-UnivName-ApplicantName, pdf)
  • Your portrait photo as jpeg (File name: 06-PBL-Photo-UnivName-ApplicantName, jpeg)

Tue 10.1. hotel reservation made by prof. Ahlava – no dwelling cancellations are possible after that and students registered to the trip are responsible for paying their accommodation, even though the scholarships will cover them at least partially.

Latest on that day, students travelling to Japan need to submit the following additional information and documents to antti.ahlava@aalto.fi, to be eventually forwarded to Shibaura Institute of Technology in order to receive a travel scholarship from SIT:

  • Medical checkup (File name: 07-PBL-Health-UnivName-ApplicantName, pdf scanned with signature, prescribed form 4) - NOTE: a doctor's signature is not necessary if the student is NOT diagnosed as possibly having an infectious disease
  • Copy of E-ticket (08-PBL-Etkt-UnivName-ApplicantName, pdf)
  • Copy of Certificate of travel Insurance covering whole program period (File name: 09-PBL-Insurance-UnivName-ApplicantName, pdf)
  • Information of your accommodation (Name, Address, Tel#)

All following individual work reviews in two parallel groups, except the final review, which will be arranged in one group.
