Though you may remember collage work from elementary school, the technique is actually widely used in art therapy and even management training. The primary purpose of doing a collage is to tap into your emotions and subconscious. Collages allow you to juxtapose images to create a sort of pre-verbal narrative. You just feelthat these pictures or words belong together and should be on the board.

At its best, a collage will allow you to find new ways of articulating things, in the vein of “Yes! That’s exactly how that feels like!” It unearths “bubbling under” emotionality and meanings. It allows you to explore what the problem feelslike, and what kind of emotions could be at the heart of your potential solution.

Some instructions and:

You work on the collage with your group

Browse through the magazines I have provided and identify potential pictures

Do NOT start gluing the images onto the collage paper immediately, take your time and discuss the collage’s composition

It is a good idea to shoot for heterogeneity rather than one singular “idea”

It is also a good idea to have different “spaces” in the collage that speak to different elements

The deliverable is as follows. Write me an evocative description of your collage: what do you see in the collage and how did the process of developing the collage unfold? What were some of the key insights? Reflect on both the collage itself (what do you see) and the creative process (how is it moving the project forward).

Please remember to add a picture of your collage!1.5 space, 1” margins.

The assignment is due in exactly one week. Please return via MyCourses, by midnight.
