CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

Selected seminars by representatives of the Finnish chemical industry and academia, with some international speakers, to provide a balanced overview of the use of AI and machine learning in chemical research and development.

  • applies in this implementation

This course follows the format of a seminar series. Up-to-date information about the seminars (times, speakers, etc.) can be accessed from this link:

    https://ocamm.fi/2024/08/22/seminar-series-ai-and-machine-learning-in-chemical-research-and-industry/

The seminars are open to all members of the public. Registered students (max. 25) can additionally obtain 1 ECTS credit by returning a learning log (short report) after the seminars.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

In-person attendance to the seminars (with some flexibility, e.g., can miss 10-20%) Learning logs (with some flexibility, e.g., can miss 10-20%).

  • applies in this implementation

The students who wish to obtain the credir must attend the seminars and return a learning log after each seminar. The learning log (1 page approx.) should summarize the contents of the seminar and reflect on it: what have you learned, what do you think are the implications of the reported research on science and society, etc.

Workload
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

The course contents will be delivered during the seminars as traditional lectures. The students will be required to compile a learning log after the sessions, to reflect upon their content.
