  • Case Study

    For the Case Study this year we'll delve into reactions to cyber attacks. Whether you want to study a good or a bad reaction, is up to you - just find an interesting case and research it.

    Some materials on this page may require you to be logged in with an Aalto account.

    • First, each group picks a case they'd like to study; it's up to you to decide what cases are interesting enough to not only you but the other students as well. Do not pick a subject some other group already picked.

      There is no specific deadline for picking a subject, but it's a good idea to reserve your subject by announcing it before you do any significant work.

    • For the second lecture on April 23rd, all groups prepare a 10-to-15-minute slideshow to present their case studies to all students. The studies are not expected to be complete at this point; tell us what you've found out so far and what else do you plan on studying.

      Choose yourself, who of you will present (one or more people). This is a nice place to practice your presenting skills! Hand in your group's presentation as a PDF or PowerPoint file.

      The deadline for the presentations is 11 am on April 23rd.

    • Next, everyone reviews all presentations (except their own group's presentation). You'll grade them numerically and can also give comments. Your feedback will be provided to the author group anonymized.

      The review assignments will appear here after the presentations.

      The deadline for the reviews is April 30th.

    • The next stage is to write an article about the case you picked. Write your article in the style of a scientific journal (you can pick which one, even a fictitious one). Explain the case so that it can be understood with a bachelor-level background. The expected length of the article is about ten to twenty pages.

      The deadline for the articles is May 14th.

    • Next, all students will read and review all articles. You'll grade them numerically and can also give comments. Your feedback will be provided to the author group anonymized.
