    3 cr course: Lecture sessions 8 * 3h = 24, Independent reflecting, thinking and studying of course materials 8 * 4h = 32h, Writing learning diaries 25h (total 81h)
    5 cr course: 3cr course contents and group assignment carried out in student groups 52 h (total 133h).

    Learning Outcomes:

    Upon completion of the 3 and 5 credit course, students are able to:

    -Recognize knowledge areas and concepts that are relevant for managing project business
    -Assess alternative courses of action in turbulent project business situations

    Upon completion of the 5 credit course, students are able to:

    -Analyze a future project and its surrounding ecosystem with multiple scenarios or alternatives in life-cycle perspective

    -Plan a project, its operations and develop it to a business of its own right with multiple scenarios or alternatives in life-cycle perspective

    Contents: Introduction to Project business; Management of risks, uncertainties, and opportunities; Buying projects and subprojects; The business content in a project, and the project’s connection to the business of the firm and the firm’s other projects; Project negotiations; Selling projects – project marketing approach; and Design-driven innovation projects and their management.

    3 cr version: learning diaries and final course essay 0-60 points (100%)

    5 cr version: learning diaries and final course essay 0-60 points (60%), group assignment 0-40 points (40%)

    Lectures: Course lectures (that we call seminars) are held on Wednesdays at hall TU7 from 14:15 to 17:00 starting on 9th of January. More information about seminar contents and schedule can be found under Seminar sessions and materials section.

    Study Material: The course material consists of selected book chapters, selected journal articles and seminar session contents. More information under the Seminar sessions and materials section.

    Prerequisites: TU-C3010 Introduction to Project Management or similar

    Grading scale: 1-5

    Registration for Course: Registration via WebOodi by the first lecture.

    The 5 credits version requires a separate application. The application procedure will be explained during the first lecture.

    The language of Instruction: English

    Further Information: The 3 cr version is aimed at students minoring in industrial management or students with basic knowledge of project management who are interested in deepening their understanding of the subject. The 3 cr version is also suitable for exchange students with prior knowledge in project management.

    The number of participants to the 5 cr version is limited. In addition to WebOodi registration, a separate application is required. The extended version is primarily intended for Master students within a degree programme in Industrial Engineering and Management, who is majoring in Industrial Management and the course is mandatory for their advanced module (i.e. TU122-3). Additionally, Master students minoring in industrial management and taking their intermediate module in Project Business (TU422-2) are given priority. Moreover, students who are from the department of civil and structural engineering (e.g. construction management and economics) are prioritized. If there are vacant places, other students with sufficient prerequisites will be accepted in the order of enrollment.
