    Course Introduction 课程介绍

    Welcome to the KiVANET Chinese characters 2 course. 

    The KiVANET Chinese 2 course is divided into two parts:

    1. Chinese pronunciation and oral communication: 3 credits (https://mycourses.aalto.fi/course/view.php?id=38074)

    2. Writing of Chinese Chratacters: 2 credits

    You will need to complete both parts to get the full 5 credits.

    This page contains the material and homework for part 2. For part 1, see link to the course page above.

    Course Content:

    In this part you will learn Chinese characters related to the Chinese 2 course and master the basic skills of reading and writing Chinese characters.

    This part of the course is 2 credits. 1 credit means 27 hours of work. This means that the workload for part 1 will be 81 hours and for part 2 it will be 54 hours.

    Grading: 

    Grading for this part of the course is graded pass/fail. 

    • Assignments 50 % of the grade
    • Written exam at the end of the course 50% of the grade

    The grades should be in the system within 4 weeks of completing the course.

    After that, you need to transfer the credits to your school.     Course kick-off and study sessions:

    We will have one kick-off lecture on January 21st at 12:00-13:30. Please participate in the online meeting through the link on the bottom of this page in Chinese characters 2 zoom.

    We will have optional study sessions, where you can get help with any questions you have, on Saturdays at 12:00-13:30. The dates for Chinese characters 2 study sessions are: 4.2., 18.2., 11.3., 25.3., 8.4. You can also email me, if you have any questions about the course content.

    Assignments:

    Please submit the assignments by the deadlines. You can find the 5 lessons that you have to complete on the left. The first lesson is posted at the start of the course, the rest will follow as soon as possible.

    Written Exam:

    The exam will take place at the end of this course and you can find it on the left under the tab Written exam. You can choose the most convenient time for you to take the exam between April 20th at 8:00 and April 22nd at 20:00. You have 2 hours to complete the exam. Make sure you start the exam at 18:00 on the 22nd at the latest, so you have enough time to complete it. The exam contains handwritten parts, so have a camera ready to upload your writing. Make sure you have returned all of the assignments before attending the exam.
