AXM-E6002 - Sound Seminar, Lecture, 5.9.2022-24.4.2023

Find a place in the city (outdoors) where you think the urban soundscape is pleasant and comfortable. Take a recorder with you, even a cell phone will do.

1) Find a place where you can sit in peace. However, choose a place clearly from the urban environment (not e.g. from a nature trail)

2) Listen to the soundscape for 20 minutes. Don't talk or do anything else, just focus on listening.

3) Record the soundscape for about a minute.

4) Think how to make the soundscape in question more pleasant?
5) What sounds would you like to remove or reduce from the soundscape if you could?
6) What sounds would you add if you could?
7) How the soundscape feels and sounds and justify why. What evokes feelings?

Finally, write in your own words a text, in which you answer to the questions 4-7. Return the audio clip from the location and the text file.
