  The objective of the course “Multimedia Systems” is to teach students the basic components and concepts of multimedia services. We focus mainly on how video streaming over the Internet works. The topics include on-demand and adaptive streaming, quality of experience with multimedia systems, content delivery networks (CDNs), and live and interactive multimedia (including XR). All the lectures will be held live and recorded for later viewing. Learning is assessed through a sequence of hands-on assignments (and exercises) over the course of which you will setup different streaming systems using a public cloud environment and analyze how they work. Although there is no exam, the assignments require substantial work.
