Assignment brief:

In each session we will explore key ideas from the field of curatorial practice or key exhibition that are now considered part of art history and the curatorial discourse. In every session I will be given you one or more prompts you can work with towards the final course assignment.

You are expected to develop a curatorial proposal for an exhibition, event, screening, etc. which includes at least 2 of the 8 prompts/clues that you will be given in the course. You are also asked to find 2-5 more elements to include in the proposal that fit within the overall framework you will develop.

You will present your ideas during the last session of the course on 30 November. We will decide in class on the 26 October if you want to do this independently or work in pairs/small groups.

The proposal is an idea for a project. It includes what we call a rationale or curatorial text explaining the key concept behind the project; a list of artworks or elements inlcuded and their description, an explanation of how these respond to the main concept.

You are encourage to work on the assignment in the independent study time from 15:15-17:00 at the end of each session.
