When welding ferrous metals, direct current is used.

Preparations before working:

  1. The workpieces must be cleaned of paint, grease, oxidations and other dirt.
  2. Remove all flammable materials from the environment before starting to weld.
  3. Wear fireproof protective clothing.
  4. Wear long leather welding gloves and safety boots.
  5. Wear a full welding mask with the lens shade DIN 8–10.
  6. In addition to yourself, protect the environment from droplets of molten metal and ultraviolet radiation by using moveable protective walls.
  7. Inspect the fire extinguishers: check the location of the dry powder extinguisher, barrel pump and fire blanket.
  8. Always use the welding vacuum cleaner for local suction, and make sure that the space is well ventilated.
  9. Due to the risk of metal fume fever, do not weld the tiniest amount of galvanised iron or copper without wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment. Ask the staff for instructions.
