Most tools and machinery can cause different kinds of damage. Always wear personal protection and follow all the rules and instructions without exception. If you are in any doubt, always consult the workshop staff!

Hearing damage

Always wear hearing protection when working in a facility with noisy tools or machine tools. Note that sudden loud noises may also occur in the workspace if, for example, a large metal or wooden workpiece or tool accidentally falls on the floor. Always wear hearing protection in the machine hall.

Damage to vision

Many tools and machine tools may create flying debris when working on a workpiece. Always wear eye protection without exception during machining. This is particularly important when working with metal. Welding can also damage your vision. When welding, always wear specially designed darkening welding goggles or a welding helmet.

Mechanical damage to the body

The equipment and machines in the workshop are designed to work with materials that are much more solid and tougher than your body. You should not, however, be scared of these devices, but they should be handled with care and consideration. Focus on your work! You should never work when feeling tired or in a hurry. Whatever your excuse, it is not worth hurting yourself!

Ergonomics

Many pieces of equipment, furniture and materials can be considerably heavy. Ask for help whenever you need it. Make sure that your grip is secure by using appropriate anti-slip gloves. Remember to lift with your legs while keeping your back straight.
