Task 3 Concept Design 26.1.-16.2. at 10 a.m. (three weeks) - individual task
Based on your two analysis tasks and your own imagination, develop the basic architectural idea, and organisational and spatial concepts for the library.
Basic architectural idea
- The aim for the building's relationship to its context: e.g. assimilating or contrasting; relating to the ground or the buildings, role in city image, relationship to existing architecture (imitating or contrasting) etc.
- Metaphoric ideas
- Image
- Atmosphere
- Location in the site in intended scale and height (3.800 m2). Propose a location for the library within the design area.
- etc.
Organisational concept includes
- ideas for the general organisation principle of the spaces spatially
- the type of the solution for public indoor spaces
- building typology
- divisioning into public, semi-public and private areas
- etc.
Spatial concept includes
- ideas for spatial experiences
- succession of spaces experienced in in movement
- massing
- views and light
- material ideas.
Submission: Powepoint or Acrobat, or other format, suitable for explaining the concept in a powerful manner.

26.1. 13:15-17 library analysis review. Introduction to the third task: Library concept design.
SIT teachers present the final building programme for the whole design area before the end of January.
