Description of the assignment:
The storyboard is a low-fidelity visualisation to help us imagine the ideal service and plan what needs to be designed for future service.
Based on your learnings from the interviews, you will first need to make some decisions:
- What is the problem (use case) that you would like to solve in this course?
- What is the right digital interaction (new or existing) for Posti to solve it?
This assignment includes:
Use case
From all the interviews, choose one situation or problem that you want to focus on. We cannot solve everything! The more concrete the problem is the better.
- Describe in detail the problem that the user is trying to solve (the what, NOT how it will be solved)
- Create a user profile, that is "an archetype user of that problem". Add research evidence as a reference, such as interview quotes or pictures from fieldwork to help you stay connected to real problems.
Storyboard
- Identify one digital interaction that you would like to improve or a new interaction that does not exist
- Develop a story that solves your identified use case, by using the digital interaction
- Develop the story in 6-7 scenes (covering the before, during, and after an incident)
- Visualise each scene in low-fidelity (e.g. sketching illustrations)
- Follow the techniques we discussed, including the context, actors, feelings…
- Add a brief description text for each scene
- Use case scenario (problem + user profile), including research evidence in one page in .PDF. Name of the file: Group#_Use case.pdf
- Storyboard (6-7 scenes) in one page A4 or A3 in .pdf or .jpg file. Name of the file: Group#_Storyboard.pdf
- Consider the entry points to define the starting point of the story: in what platform is the user interacting when the problem occurs? how will they become aware of your touchpoint?
- Consider trigger points to define the use case scenario: what is their motivation to use the service? what are they trying to solve in their life?
- Consider the service map to help you contextualise the story: at what step of the Posti sending or returning journey is the user?
- Visualisations don't need to be perfect, they can be presented as draft sketches. Work in progress is fine!
