Week 5: User evaluation plan
Completion requirements
Make a submission
Due: Tuesday, 4 October 2022, 6:00 PM
Template of contents for the evaluation plan (see also the lecture slides from the evaluation lecture):
Scope of the evaluation (1 page)
- Copy your storyboard and highlight two parts in it:
- What part of the storyboard your evaluation will focus on
- What touchpoint will you evaluate with a clicking/tapping prototype.
- Define the evaluation goal: what you want to learn about with the evaluation. This can be, for example, a usability heuristic such as "ease of use", "error-freeness" or similar.
A sketch of the clicking/tapping prototype (1 page)
- Photos or screenshots that illustrate what kind of a prototype the participants will use in the user evaluations
- Indicate the transitions between screens using arrows and annotations (e.g., use "wireflows")
- Add annotations explain important parts
Research methods and evaluation activities (1 page)
- How you will you help the user imagine the situation: How you will present the interaction context to the participant (e.g., using a storyboard, a story, something else)? For example, if you would be evaluating a new train ticket machine, this outline could start like this: "We prepare a cardboard mockup of the machine in a large hall in Väre. In the start of the study, we show the beginning of the storyboard to the participant, and tell them we would like the participant now try to buy a ticket using the mockup..."
- To get an answer to your evaluation goal:
- Tell what data you will record and collect in the evaluation (e.g., video of the interaction)
- Tell how you will analyse the data and how you will analyse it (e.g., number of errors and re-tries)
- What stages will the evaluation have (welcoming, presenting part of a storyboard, interactions with the prototype, short interview about, ...)
- Your division of labour during the evaluation
