Before drilling:

  1. Protect your hearing and wear safety goggles!
  2. Tie back long hair or wear a cap to cover it. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery that can get caught in the moving and rotating parts of the machine.
  3. Clean up the surroundings of the machine so that you will not fall onto the rotating machine due to an untidy environment or a slippery floor.
  4. Remove any sharp edges from the workpiece. Measure and mark the drilling point with a centre punch.
  5. Choose the right rotation speed from the table according to the material you are drilling and the diameter of the drill you are going to use. Place the gearbox levers in the right position as indicated by the symbols.
  6. Open the drill chuck guard by turning the guard left. Make sure that the chuck is properly secured. Open up the chuck jaws by holding the upper ring and turning the lower ring to the left. Attach the drill bit by turning the lower ring to the right.
  7. Adjust the drilling table to the appropriate height and lock it in position.
  8. Attach the workpiece with a clamp. A wide piece or a workpiece made of sheet metal is attached to a side table with locking pliers or wood clamps. Never attempt to hold the workpiece with your hands.
  9. Align the drilling point correctly with the drill table.
  10. Put the guards in place. The power is always cut off when the drill chuck guard is open.

Drilling:

  1. Start the drilling machine.
  2. When drilling, keep both hands, your hair and clothing away from the rotating machine parts. Turn off the drilling machine. Do not touch the moving parts or brush away any chips before the drill has come to a complete stop.
  3. Use a file or a larger drill bit to remove sharp burrs from the hole. Turn the piece and remove the burrs from the underside.

After drilling:

  1. Open the guard and remove the piece from the clamp.
  2. Clean up the machine and its surroundings with a vacuum cleaner or a brush, but do not use compressed air. Watch out for sharp metal chips; now you can wear gloves.
  3. If necessary, use a moderate amount of cutting oil when drilling. There is a danger that the splashes make the floor slippery.
