There are three assignments altogether counting up to 50% of final course grade. Each assignment consists of 4-7 problems or small cases.Assignments are individual work. You may discuss the problems with your colleagues, but you must submit your own answers.
Submit all files with file names that end with _studentnumber.[file_extension] (e.g., BA2A1submission2023_123456.xlsx).
Outside of lectures we encourage you to use MyCourses General Discussion to ask questions about the assignments. We respond to these questions as quickly as we can. Please do not send us your files for general troubleshooting – there are too many students on this course for us to be able to offer such guidance. Please use the feedback & consultation opportunities offered by the staff.
Assignment submission instructions
Excel templates: In the worksheet there is one sheet for each problem that uses Excel, labelled Q1, Q2, ... . You are asked to submit your answers using the green shaded cell areas. Make sure that each sheet includes active Excel formulas/functions, not just numerical values, unless you are asked for a verbal answer. For simulation problems, do NOT freeze your model. Make sure that it runs under F9 or (fn+F9) and always leave rand () function as it is.
Jupyter Notebook files: When a problem is done using R or Python you are required to submit a single .ipynb file for that problem. If a template file is offered then you need to use that template.
Your submissions will be machine read, therefore it is important that the offered templates are not modified in ways that make machine reading difficult. Please do not merge cells or add cells, rows or columns in the Excel template. If a Jupyter Notebook template asks you to enter your answer in a specific cell, please adhere to this instruction.
To get full marks, read carefully the assignment handout and answer all that is being asked. The model solutions will be presented after each deadline, and you can ask for clarifications on the model solutions after they have been presented.
Submission deadlines
The deadlines for the assignments can be found below. The DLs are strict in the sense that MyCourses does not allow submissions even one second after the deadline. Make sure to click 'save' button after file upload. Make sure you get a 'confirmation' to your school email. Check MyCourses submission status saying 'submitted for grading’' You can update your solutions until the deadline.
Academic misconduct policy
Submitting a copied answer or solution is strictly forbidden. Any identified cases of plagiarism will be forwarded to the study office for handling.
